 REALIZING THAT LEARNING IS A  LIFELONG PROCESS 

PURPOSE

The purpose of this organization shall be to encourage the growth and development of continuing education in the State of Iowa. This encouragement shall be through many approaches:


1. To serve as a medium of exchange of information among individuals, industries, agencies and organizations in lifelong learning through publications, conferences, workshops and other media.
2. To keep the public informed regarding legislation and other factors in the field of lifelong learning.
3. To encourage professional growth among adult educators.
4. To cooperate with local, state, regional and national adult education organizations in promoting lifelong learning.
5. To promote a broad concept of lifelong learning that will include both formal and informal activities in the career, vocational, cultural, and citizenship education fields.

 

IALL membership offers affiliation with the only broadbased association of lifelong learning professionals and organizations in Iowa and provides connections with a diverse network of organizations and individuals. Any person engaged in, or interested in, lifelong learning may become a member of the association.  An annual membership in the association is automatically extended to participants by way of the registration fee for attending an annual conference (Membership is valid for the period up until the next annual conference). A member shall have the right to hold office, vote, and be eligible for all rights and privileges of the association.

JOIN A COMMITTEE

Committees are typically formed at – or shortly following – IALL’s annual conference.  You may volunteer for a committee at the conference or by talking with the IALL President, an IALL Board member, or a current IALL committee chair.  For all committee members, the term is usually one year unless otherwise specified.  Appointments may be renewed.  Most committee meetings are held via telephone conference call.

 

In some cases, officers are ex-officio members of certain committees.  The IALL President is an ex-officio member of all committees.
